6 PM -- an usher came out and
asked for some flags. The radio folks gave her a bunch.
6:10 -- Overheard 1/2 of a phone conversationConan O'Brien made a joke about the situation.
Supposedly they tried finding any fans of Ian to interview but couldn't find any.
About 15 people across street
6:20 -- Asbury Park Press. They say they've given out about 20 flags.
Tint Man told the Asbury Park Press reporter, "The American flag means freedom, nothing else."
[clears throat] O.K. It's probably best to start with the definition of "symbol". Our good friends at dictionary.com define the word thusly:
Something that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention, especially a material object used to represent something invisible.
What it doesn't say is that an object can solely represent one thing.
Eric Zane told APP, "The people that disagreed would right long e-mails about the war but wouldn't adress the comments. When called out on it they would snip back with things like "Nazi" and "Fascist"
They say publicist rejected interview.
6:30-6:40 -- Two cops come by and ask that they "Clean up when you leave"
6:45 -- 20 people walk in. A bit of surprise by the protesters, they think maybe they had an impact.
Someone, "Dixie Chicks made remark about president, he made remarks about the whole country"
Zane "We're NOT telling people to boycott the show."
"Goin' to the show? [pause] Wanna flag?"
"Enjoy the show"
7:15 -- People start making their way in. Mostly being ignored so a few try to cross the street. Cops send them away saying they are protesting.
"You wanna flag?" to two women
"I don't want this!"
Turns around and mumbles "Fucking nazi"
Tint Man "It's amazing how many people are ignorant."
